Despite the tensions between China, the United States, and India, China continues to assert its power through its military forces, which have raised fears of all-out conflict or World War 3 should tensions escalate any further. Recently, Beijing has deployed 1,000 troops in its live-fire confrontation drills.
Video footage of the transport of military vehicles of the People’s Liberation Army in Beijing made rounds on social media, showing how China is preparing for its live-fire confrontation drills. 1,000 troops were deployed, along with transporting around 100 military vehicles to northwest China, where the drills are to take place. The communist nation is currently trying to reinforce its stance on the long-running conflict with India at the Himalayan border.
China has since tried to exert its power in its standoff with India by deploying military vehicles close to the border, where conflict could escalate into an all-out war. The South Pangong region in the eastern part of Ladakh is where both sides have increased their military forces. Following the circulating video footage, many users on Twitter have expressed concern, while some have criticized the move, saying that China needs to focus on more important things. Some have also expressed support.
On the other side, India has also undertaken measures to maintain its ground in the standoff with China. Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane also released a statement warning of the tensions between the two nations at the border. General Naravane also noted that they are taking some precautions for safety and security.
No progress has been made so far in the discussions between India and China, and recent months have seen casualties from both sides. According to Lt. General D.S. Hooda of the Indian Army, he revealed to the Associated Press that the standoff between the two countries is already very dangerous as of late. Having served as the Head of the North Command in the Indian army from 2014 to 2016, Lt. Gen. Hooda revealed that whether or not the standoff will be kept under control will depend on the effort from both countries and whether or not they will make sure it is contained and will not spread to other regions.
