What Everyone Must Know About WHATSAPP

Launched in January 2009, Whatsapp is considered to be one of the finest communication and messaging applications around the world, till date. Basically, it allows you to communicate with people from different places in many ways, such as through messaging, audio or video calls, or even by exchanging media files and documents.

With over 2 billion active users, Whatsapp is widely popular among friends and family that live far away in different cities or countries and are capable of staying in touch with the help of this interface.

How does Whatsapp work?

One of the best advantages of Whatsapp is that it allows you to receive calls and send text messages by only using an internet connection instead of a cellular network, which means you can also call someone internationally without obtaining any roaming charges. Apart from this, the app is highly customizable; for instance, one can choose how to exhibit their profile or chat box, which also includes various graphic options provided by the app.

Along with some standard features, Whatsapp implies some cutting-edge features like “live location.” This feature helps you keep track of your loved ones by acquiring their location or vice versa. Although in a worst-case scenario, if you accidentally send a text that is not related to the person, Whatsapp has introduced an ‘unsend’ option that can help you delete the message from both ends. And most importantly, this application is free to use; apart from an internet connection, you are not required to pay anything for installing the app or anything else.

Due to this, if you send sensitive information, it cannot be traced, as it will not be replayed once viewed by the user.
  • Face or Touch ID – If you want to acquire double security on your WhatsApp chats or want Whatsapp scammers/ hackers to never gain access to your account , it’s possible for iOS users to set their WhatsApp account to require Face ID or Touch ID verification while opening WhatsApp, even when your device is already unlocked. However, you will still be able to reply to notifications and answer calls if it’s locked. However, it is only available for iOS and not for Android.
  • Can turn off last seen – WhatsApp’s last seen feature permits you to see when someone last checked the app, and it also allows other users to see when you last checked. However, if a contact hasn’t disabled Last Seen, it will appear under their name at the top of an open chat. Moreover, to disable Last Seen, go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Last Seen > Switch to Nobody.
  • Auto download – Sharing photos and videos on WhatsApp is great, but manually downloading each and every document after an event is nerve-wracking. On Android software, a folder is created in the gallery by default, while on iOS, the media saves automatically to your camera roll. To enable the feature, go to Settings > Chats and Toggle on Show Media in Gallery.

As WhatsApp is an end-to-end encryption and a well-known programme, there are advantages and disadvantages that go hand in hand. Just as with other networks, scammers mainly target the one that is trending and well-known, where traffic is higher and it is easier to deceive someone in such a ubiquitous playground. However, to prevent this, one should research the interface before adhering to it. There are several government-approved websites that have information about fraud techniques used by scammers and steps to solemnly tackle them.
